CHRISTMAS FACTSHEET 2024


Below is our most up to date list of Christmas opening hours, free Christmas meals and other food support provided during the Christmas season. For further details and support please phone our Community Connections Lewisham phone line on 0330 0583 464, open 9:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday (*except Thursdays when it is open 2-4pm only).

Please submit referrals as early as possible. 

Christmas: The referral portal will close at 3pm on 24th December. Referrals re-open on 27th December at 9.30am. 

New Year: The referrer portal will close on 31st December at 3pm and reopen on 2nd  January at 9:30am.

Community Meals at 7pm on 8th and 15th December, and then closed until 5th 

January 2025.

 


Food Cycle Lewisham

The Lewisham Irish Community Centre, 2a Davenport Road, Rushey Green, SE6 2AZ 


Midweek meal open until Wednesday 18th December, reopening Wednesday 8th January 

1-3pm.Weekend meal open until Saturday 21st December, reopening on Saturday 4th 

January 1-3pm. 

A three-course, vegetarian meal open to all, no eligibility criteria.

Bank of Things & Community Youth Fridge

Open Wednesdays and Fridays 3 - 5pm until Friday 20th. Then open again on Friday 3rd January. For young people aged 11 – 25. Distributing surplus foods such as 

pastries and cakes.

Community Connections Lewisham / Lewisham Salvation Army  

Sunday 22nd December. 

Meals on Wheels. 

Freshly made meals and goody bags delivered in the morning by volunteers. First come, first served booking for Lewisham residents isolated over Christmas. Limited number of meals, refer early to avoid disappointment.Please signpost to the Community Connections Lewisham phoneline or ring yourself on 0330 058 3464 to provide details, dietary requirements, and anything else we should know about the delivery.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham / St Peter's Church Food Bank  St Peter’s Church, Lee, SE12 8HQ 

Food Bank dates over Christmas period: 21st December, 4th January. Closed 22nd December – 3rd January.  

The Food Bank is not drop in, maximum of 40 places for people with no recourse to public funds and all referrals must be agreed in advance. Accept referrals from 

organisations and self-referral from individuals.

Downham Gleaning Pantry - Social Supermarket 

Brook Lane Community Church, 27-29 Brook Lane, Bromley, BR1 4PU 


Open Fridays 9.30-12.30pm. Closed on 27th December and will open as normal on 3rd Jan. Social Pantry for people on low incomes and affected financially in 

Downham.

Residents pay a membership fee of £5 a week to choose from a variety of food. Contact downhamaid@gmail.com

Open on Wednesdays 10am-12noon throughout the holiday period. Social 

supermarket for people on low incomes (£2 per shop), no membership required, bring proof of address. For people on low incomes who may benefit from spending less on their weekly shop (£2 per shop, or free if you can’t afford £2).
